Teacher Talks - Jim (James) Hambel

Jim Hambel is an elementary physical education teacher in the South Bronx, New York City, New York. He has been teaching PE for more than 10 years and is a member of the National Bowling Hall of Fame.

 

In addition to his 10+ years of teaching physical education, Jim has a teaching license in special education and general education. Most recently, he received the award for the 2020 NYS AHPERD Elementary PE Section Amazing Person and 2021 Dr. R. Doris Corbett Johnson Leaders for Our Future Award. He has written a plethora of blogs and spoken at more than a dozen events in order to promote best practices in physical education.

Aside his academic credentials, Jim has been bowling nearly his entire life. In his words, it's been a "JIM-portant" piece of him. He's bowled a perfect game three times. His famous "Bowl-A-Rama" PE Unit has been taught in tens of schools and loved by hundreds of kids.
